WTN: Beronia Rioja Reserva 2006

by Bruce Hayes » Tue Sep 21, 2010 11:25 am

Dark red in the glass.

Spicy and vanilla on the nose.

Medium weight, good tangy acidity, cedar, raspberry, cherry, juicy, lovely vanilla, polished, quite rich, chocolate, floral.

After a couple of glasses, the wine turned quite crisp, very acidic and sharp.

Vanilla and chocolate on the tangy finish.

I preferred the first few glasses of this wine to the last few.

Purchased at $17.95 (Canadian).

Bruce, that 06 Reserva is a baby; probably just on the market. Regulations require 1 year in the barrel and two in the bottle minimum. That may partly account for its odd behaviour after a couple of glasses.
