I have been drinking a lot of Newton Claret the 2007 lately, but back to 2004. I never let them sit long but they are so well balanced that I just thought that they may age very well. Does anyone out there have any experience with 10 year old (or more) Newton Claret.

Not sure if this is helpful but I had a bottle of the 97 Puzzle in 2007 that held up just fine. Of course I didn't like it one bit (I'm not a big fan of big Napa wines) and not sure it really became anything "better" or more complex, even for those who like the style. But then 97 was a different vintage.

Another one of those wines that I use to drink but don't anymore. I never felt that the vintages from the mid-late 1990's were wines that would improve with age and never let any go past 5 years or so after the vintage. I would expect those clarets to hold up for 7-10 years. No recent data points so not much help I am sure.

Here in the valley we don't think of them as long agers, as a rule. They make wine in a style, if you care for is done well.
