In north Atlanta suburbs for a couple of days seeing parents. Not checking bags, so bringing wine not convenient, but went to Harry's market, a large "Fresh Market" with a better selection of wines than the regular supermarkets, But the GA markups are brutal compared to NY. I ended up with 2 French wines where I only thought I was paying 30% more than NY.
With beef tenderloin, baked potato, and asparagus, the 2007 Thivin Cote de Brouilly ($27), Sweet red berries, smoke, good acids, nice length. I enjoyed first night, didn't hold up so well overnight. B
With roast chicken, root vegetables, and a spinach/mushroom salad, the 2007 Trimbach Riesling ($20). Lighter framed than some vintages, citrus and a touch of petrol, good length, mineral. B
Glad to be back to my cellar/stores soon.
