So the new Food and Wine (hey, don't laugh, just cost me some miles on an airline I seldom fly) is the Wine Issue. I've just glanced, but some interesting pairings, etc. But in the Sommeliers Know Best article, they listed as Overlooked Pinot Noir vintages 2007 Oregon and 2002 Burgundy. I don't really know OR vintages well. But the blurb reads " Kristie Petrullo of Craft :'the 02s weren't drinking well for a while, but now are so beautiful.' And because '02 was an unhyped vintage, prices tend to be lower than say 05 wines. "
OK, 2002 Burgs might not be as expensive as 05. But the rest seems strange. I missed the period of awkward 2002s, I've thought amazingly open throughout. But that's personal taste/experience. The part that seems strange in unhyped vintage- I thought there was a load of hype. I like '02, but '00 and '01 (CdN) would be better candidates for unhyped/overlooked.
