Cullen wines from Margaret River area.

Checking through the archives, there would appear to be some Cullen fans here so here is a great tasting line-up from Sarah Ahmed who appears to heading up the blog chart with rapid success in my opinion.

Bob, I took a Cullen to a geek gathering of So Hemisphere wines in Vancouver not long ago and was surprised that my BC friends, all VERY knowledgeable, were completely unfamiliar with this brand. I had the impression that they were well known and highly respected--one of the oldest producers in MR. And maybe all that's still true, but it did strike me as odd that even if the wines didn't get to BC, the reputation did not.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Good timing - the lady herself, Vanya Cullen, is over in Norwich on Wednesday evening for a tasting. I probably won't be going as TBoTO is off to York the following day, but it's tempting nonetheless. I've only got the Cab/Merlot blend (now named after Vanya's mother Diana) in the cellar, but the Chardonnay can be really special, the SSB a charmer and the Mangan red blend a surprisingly bawling youth. Good wines, but not quite the value they used to be. I still retain huge respect for Vanya's seemingly relentless quest to improve the wines.
