I really like the minerality here, but the coconut aromatics seem completely out of place. Not really sure what to make of this wine.

Coconut? Sounds strange for a Macon. Hope that isn't an oxidation symptom...

Think obvious wood note.

Stupid me. Forgot what wood in white wine tasted like after all those Rieslings. ;)

I've had this multiple times, but never thought coconut (or wood). Interesting.

There was nothing other than the coconut element that would make me think of wood. Weird.

You could post about it on Disorder where Eric might be more likely to respond?

Eric has now registered here!

I am quite curious. A point I should also make is that I love the '08 Brezeme.

Hi David,
Wait a little bit, maybe?
I use 9 old barrrels (I bought them 3 wines old in 1999) for this wine, but agree that it can taste a bit oaky right after racking and bottling. But again, this is a wine for aging in my mind. I am drinking' 01 and '04 these days. '96 and '99 still doing great. '05 too young, not speaking of '07, that I see as a great vintage for me.

Santé

Thanks for the info Eric. I will bury my other two bottles for several years.

And thank you for stopping by - welcome to the WLDG!

Welcome Eric! :) FWIW, I also had such issues with my first bottle of the '06, but more recent bottles have been fine. Actually, much better than fine.

Lending experiential credence to Eric's comments regarding age. :D

Welcome Eric!

My only issue with the 07 is that I am down to a couple, and they seem to be gone from shelves.
