WTN: Carta Vieja Limited Release Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

by Bruce Hayes » Thu Sep 09, 2010 9:02 am

Loncomilla Valley

Purple in the glass.

Spicy and black cherry on the nose.

Veggy, green notes, spicy, chocolate, heavily charred, black cherries, raspberries, medium weight, good acidity, drying, candied, harsh and shrill.

Harsh with alcohol on the finish.

Despite the other good things this wine had going for it, the dryness, veggy and green notes dominated. Not very nice.

Purchased at $13.95 (Canadian).

I must say that this winery knows all the catch phrases to use to make their wine appear important. In additon to "Limited Release", others that appear on tbe front label are "Reserva" and "Single Vineyard."
