WTN: 2007 Anthill Farms Pinot Noir Peters Vineyard

by David M. Bueker » Sun Sep 05, 2010 10:21 pm

While the Anthill Farms Peters Vineyard Pinot Noir is definitely a California wine, there is something about its underlying elegance that has me thinking of Burgundy. Beyond the ripe fruit there is a subtlety, and an earthiness that speaks of more than just grapes. I have made this comparison before, but I will do it again - there is something a little bit "Truchot-esque" about the Anthill Farms wines.

Thanks for the note David.

I haven't opened any of my '07s yet, but I did have a '06 Peters about a month ago that was a little disjointed.... some alcohol sticking out on the backend.

Had me worried a bit to be honest.

I'm glad to hear the '07 version is drinking so well.

Chris,

I have zero experience with Anthill wines prior to 2007, but I have heard that they made a bit of a stylistic shift in 2007, so current releases may not be well represented by wines from 2006 or earlier.

Do you know when their first vintage was?

I think the '04 was the first vintage commercially available... although they may have made some wine in '03, not 100% sure.

Meadows first reviewed the '05s which, I believe, is what turned a lot of people on to them.
