WTN: 2006 Chapoutier C-H Les Varonniers

Hello gorgeous! Decanted about two hours before dinner, this is the most elegant and sophisticated young C-H I've ever had. Mind you, I haven't had all that many, and I tend to judge them all by Jaboulet's Thalabert because that was the first one I ever bought and drank a lot of, but it doesn't stop me from being grandiose about a wine I loved. Violets and lavendar on the nose, black cherry and raspberry fruit, silky tannins, and an overall character of refinement more like the wines from further north than the green olives and herbs I'm used to. Super fine, and of course will reward more cellar time.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
