...someone left a bottle of 2008 Layer Cake Primitivo here recently that got opened last night with a bunch of friends. Haven't had any Layer Cake wines before but this one was Pretty. Darned. Good. Raspberry fruit, spicy in an Amador FrenchTown kind of way but with more acidity, little or no oak, and black pepper on the finish. I could drink this every day.

If you mean "international" style, I actually did not find this wine to be so. Maybe what this brand does is usually that (I'm ignorant about what/who Layer Cake is except that it's low-priced--perhaps you can educate me?), but this bottle was very Italian.
