Walmart Wines

Found the following on the wine board on Craigslist:

Wal-Mart announced that sometime in 2010 it will begin offering customers a new discount item...Walmart's own brand of wine. The world's largest retail chain is rumored to be teaming up with Ernest& Julio Gallo Winery of California to produce the spirits at an affordable price in the $2 to $5 range.

Wine connoisseurs may not be inclined to put a bottle of the Wal-Mart brand into their shopping carts, but 'There is a market for inexpensive wine,' said Kathy Micken, professor of marketing at University of Arkansas , Bentonville. 'However, branding will be very important.'

Customer surveys were conducted to determine the most attractive name for the Walmart wine brands and varieties.

The top surveyed names in order of popularity were:

10. Chateau Traileur Parc
9. White Trashfindel
8. Big Red Gulp
7. World Championship Riesling
6. NASCARbernet
5. Chef Boyardeaux
4. Peanut Noir
3. I Can't Believe it's not Vinegar
2. Grape Expectations
1. Nasti Spumante

The beauty of Walmart wine is that it can be served with either white meat (Possum) or red meat (Squirrel).

P.S. Don't bother writing back to tell me that this is a hoax. I know possum is not white meat.
Cheers!

Having eaten Muskrat, I can tell you a nice muscadine based white would have improved the situation greatly!
Yes, and how many deaths will it take 'til he knows
That too many people have died?

Having eaten (once) possum, I highly recommend moonshine as the ideal accompanying beverage. 8)

I remember going to a ranch near the coast in central CA some thirty or fourty years ago. We were sitting on the top railing of a corral where one of the ranch hands was finishing breaking in a young horse. The guy sitting next to me passed me a jug and explained how I should manuever to drink properly out of it. He said it was the"new release" of their white lightning. I took a brave chug rolled it around in my mouth and said that's really smooth and easy to drink, at that moment a good 20 seconds after I had swallowed a burst of heat hit my watering eyes and exploding head as I fell into the corral. Damn they had a good laugh at my expense. White lightning, moon shine, whoa nellie I'll never forget.   PS they said it was a great vintage about 130 proof

That list of Wal-Mart wine names is about as old as Sam Walton. Some of 'em are still cute.

We actually bought a Walmart wine last year for around $4. Don't remember anything about it.
