WTN: Burgo Viejo Crianza Rioja 2005

by Bruce Hayes » Wed Sep 01, 2010 9:06 am

A 90-10 per cent Tempranillo and Graciano blend.

Dark cherry red in the glass.

Cedar, spice, chocolate, roasted meat on the nose.

Medium weight, tangy acidity, cedary, spicy, cherry, raspberry, strawberry, chocolate, some sweetness, rich.

Tangy, spicy, chocolate on the finish.

This wine started out quite poorly (very tangy, thin, not much fruit), but it improved greatly throughout the course of the evening. Yum.

Purchased at $12.95 (Canadian).

One of the better-on-day-2 wines!

Bruce, hope to see some TNs on Riesling from your area on this months Focus! I will cover BC as best I can. Do you have access to Finger Lakes releases?
