2001 Dönnhoff Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Riesling Auslese
From a leaking half bottle - I should not have worried. This is still at least somewhat shut down from the glacial cellar. There is some aromatic development, though any hints of age are much more apparent on the palate, with an emerging sense of creaminess amply balanced by a bracing, slatey finish that lingers for longer than I can track. There's just a hint of spice, gently overlaying a fruit salad of flavors with no single element sticking out from the whole. Balance, balance, balance! Fabulous, but in need of more time in the cellar.
