2007 Latium, Campo Prognài, Valpolicella
Full and a bit coarse nose with lots of ripe, dark cherries with a touch of cherry kernel bitterness. Maybe a touch of toasted oak, but not over evident.
Fresh and rather tough taste with dense fruit and a bit heavy and bitter tannins but they are well backed up by the power of the deep cherry fruit, though the long aftertaste has a rather earthy bitterness.
2006 Roccolo Grassi, Valpolicella
Lovely, deep and fresh cherry fruit. A touch of well integrated oak. Overall very clean and stylish, without becoming uninteresting.
Fresh and clean attack. Lovely acidity and clean, deep, stylish fruit. Fine-grained and integrated tannins and some bitterness (oak) growing towards the end. Very long. Could do with some years in the bottle, but is very fresh today.
Hopefully, I'll complete with some more facts about the wines later, when time is found...
Cheers, Anders
