WTN: Mulderbosch Cabernet Sauvignon Rose 2009

by Bruce Hayes » Sat Aug 14, 2010 2:51 pm

WO Coastal Region

Lovely copper-orange-light brown in the glass.

Fresh, juicy, raspberries on the nose.

Light to medium bodied, earthy, tangy cherry, raspberry, good acidity, drying, lightly sweet, light tannins, refreshing.

Drying, grippy, mouthwatering on the finish.

Delicious.

Screwcap closure.

Purchased at $12.95 (Canadian).

Nice, see if you can find their Chenin Blanc Bruce.

Has the `10 shown up in your area yet Bruce? I am watching the shelves out here, that is for sure!
Jenise rated this one quite highly last year too.

I had to check and see if this is the one I so loved last year (and never found another bottle of, though I looked hard!). And it is: 2009 Mulderbosch, 100% cabernet sauvignon, South Africa, $11.49: Wow. I've had this in past years when it's been more off-dry than dry, but not this time. The '09 is bone dry and punches big on the palate with true cab character and structure. Oustanding. Fifteen votes and my #2.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

I find this a reliable rose'. Have one 2010 on hand that I picked up at The Wine Merchant, Raleigh so some have come into the USA already. My notes indicate that I tasted it at an event last October and took delivery in January 2011.
