Susan & I tried this last night:
1. SolRouge GypsyBlanc (14.5%; 48% Marsanne/RRV, 48% Roussanne/LakeCnty, 4% Viognier/RRV; www.SolRouge.com) 2007: Med.gold color; rather fragrant appley/apple blossom/florly/mostly Marsanne somewhat earthy/Rhonish/stoney/CdP Blanc slight waxy/valve oil lovely nose; tart fairly rich/lush attractive floral/appley/apple blossom some earthy/stoney/Rhonish slight chalky/minerally flavor; med.long tart lush floral/apple blossom/appley some stoney/earthy/Rhonish light chalky finish; quite a lovely RhoneBlanc blend; speaks mostly of Marsanne right now; maybe can go another 2-4 yrs, maybe longer.

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. SolRouge is the label of BryanKane, also of VIE wnry, for his mostly LakeCnty wines. I had this fresh off the boat and found it a bit pinched & narrow w/o a lot going on in it. What a difference some age makes. It had some of the character of a CdP Blanc w/o the austere character many of them show until they get some age. This wine had plenty of acidity, but a lushness that speaks of Calif.
Bryan has an extensive very-close-spaced planting of mostly Rhone varietals up in LakeCnty. I am consistently underwhelmed by many of the wines that come out of LakeCnty, but I definitely think Bryan is on the right track w/ what he's doing up there. A wnry to watch.
