WTN: '08 Weinbach Pinot Gris Clos Ste. Catherine

by David M. Bueker » Thu Aug 05, 2010 5:33 pm

From a small sample poured by the distributor, this showed excellent Pinot Gris typicity, but was somewhat rough on the back end. Lots of that brulee character to the pear fruit, and a touch more sweetness than I would prefer (served warm though, so the sweetness may be better balanced at the appropriate temperature).

Hi David,

I had a 1990 a few months ago, and it was one of the most spectacular Pinot Gris moments of my life. 2008 has been compared to that great vintage so perhaps very good things are in store. I´ve also heard that the prices have come down considerably for Weinbach. Is Vineyard Brands still importing it?

Cheers,
Bill
