Germany: Pfalz and german wine road

by Richard M » Tue Aug 03, 2010 5:33 pm

I have a small website with some "biometric" landscape pictures that shows the real face of a raped landscape. The website is abot the [url=http//www.germanwineroute.com]Pfalz winegrowing region in germany and the german wine route[/url] and is dedicated to the useless politicians and architects that are responsible for all those comcrete buildings and "village developments". These developments are sponsored by the EU

Maikammer, German wine route

http://www.germanwineroute.com/pics/jul ... -route-320.
Deidesheim, german wine route

It sucks to see a coltural landscape being tied with concrete. Living quarters look like this:

Neustadt an der Weinstrasse - germn wine route

http://www.germanwineroute.com/pics/sou ... kammer-640.
Hambach castle with new built restaurant in front. Planned with costs of about +- 10 million €, the price now is 25 million€. Useless politicians call this concrete eyecatcher "art. and art is ment to think about it" (="what u think how it looks like? bullshit!" [=art])

Who wants to make holiday in a region like this?

http://www.germanwineroute.com/pics/jul ... ermany-320.

http://www.germanwineroute.com/pics/sig ... eyards-640.
Atomic plant close to the winegrowing region

Another panorama near Forst/ Weinstrasse/ Pfalz:

I am just sick of it. I am going on to publish pictures of each village, and these pictures won`t show the landscape from a touristic point of view, they will show this region in the poor reality.

Did you know that the german wine route is a NSDAP remnant built in 1935 following pogroms and prohibitions of jewih wine trade? Did you know that this fact isn?t even mentioned ANYWHERE? Did you know that there is a (nowadays half) swastika on the german wine gate? Did you know that there was a jewish family named "Kallstadt" that was living in Kallstadt/ german wine route that was eradicated?

It is time to show the true, poor and unattractive face of the german wine growing regions.

Edit: had to delete the [img] tags due to search engine conflicts, sorry for that!

Richard,

I will agree with you about the emergence of the big Globus\Kaufland\Netto-like box stores ruining the landscape, but this phenomenon is hardly unique to the Pfalz or even the whole of Germany. You draw attention to the Hambacher Schloß renovation (to a museum and restaurant) when there are dozens of ruined castles from Wissembourg to Grünstadt that have been left relatively untouched since thier destruction and much of the Haardt range and Pfälzer Wald has been left unblemished and actually rather wild. If lack of historical preservation is your complaint, remember that the whole of the Pfalz was burned to the ground twice in the 17th century (during the 30 years war and later by the French.) During later French occupation, the architechture of the region was changed again when fachwerk gave way to homes built with the local sandstone and therefore lacks much identity to begin with. I have heard Neustadt residents complain about the fact that thier French-built homes were modelled after those from a warmer climate than Germany and require too much fuel to heat in winter (and certainly Neustadt isn't the best example of beauty in any era, I think.) Grenzgebiete often lack a specific identity in these respects. That die Deutsche Weinstraße was originally built by the Nazis is not much of a shock either as most of the Autobahnen here in Germany (and many other things) were as well. In any case, most every winegrowing region throughout Europe has individuals who were guilty of colaboration with the Nazi government in some way or another.

I hate the destruction of culture and individuality by corporations probably as much as you do, but I don´t feel that the Pfalz is the biggest problem area in Europe.

Once again Richard I would just like to know what has made you so angry. I have not met anyone other than the most hardened industrialist who likes a beautiful landscape to be over run with concrete monoliths, but your level of anger does nothing to persuade.

I just grow up and live here, and unlike some others that might benefit from this stuff, I am forced to watch this each time I drive by. It`s like each year one more view is killed by some concrete.

All your sayings just sound like uninterested lobbyism arguments. I (maybe) answer them on my website.

If lack of historical preservation is your complaint, remember that

Hey, I grow up here, I live here, I know each stone and each village, each history thing and each tale and saying ROFL, YOU want to teach ME about history of Pfalz?

You know that germany is not anywhere in europe when it comes to nazi NSDAP history? You know that the Pfalz region was the first GAU in germany that was JUDENFREI (="jewish free")?

Richard,

Speaking as a forum moderator, I would prefer we not discuss Nazi history as wine talk. If we're going to go down the road of historical preservation and political discussion this thread will be moved to the appropriate forum.

Richard,

I´m not trying to teach you anything, but to merely offer my point of view (which, like I said is probably close to your own.) I´m certainly not trying to attack you. If you would like to discuss this issue in a civil manner, I would be happy to listen.
