WTN: Needs some wind beneath its sails (Moulin a Vent)

2007 Drouhin Moulin a Vent
13% alcohol. Deep purple-red color; nearly opaque. Rather a grapey note with some sharp spiciness on the tongue tip. Might improve with one or two more years in bottle. I was disappointed at first but it improved with some air. It became less grapey and evoked dark-skinned plums with mild tannins on the finish. Now I know why I purchased it after a tasting in Charlotte in April. Give plenty of aeration if drinking now or hold for a year or two.
I paired it with hamburger with diced onions, Worcestershire sauce and Swiss cheese on buttered and broiled hamburger buns and corn on the cob the first evening. Another evening I had it with beef taco.

Two years ago I also said it needs a year or two! :D

Here is what I wrote back then: "13,90€ (price is going up, I see...); 13%; 4,5g/l acidity. Cherry, ripe red fruit, some damp earth. It is very perfumed and I routinely like young Beaujolais on the second day open because the estery and fruity scents aren't so strong, but rather the rocky fruit and earthy characteristics come out with greater clarity. Ripe fruit, refreshingly noticeable tannins, moderate acidity (seems higher than what the technical sheet would imply), long, slightly mineral aftertaste. Very enjoyable though not at the highest level of Beaujolais."

I recently wrote about a Bojo-Villages '82 from Drouhin that had aged amazingly well. With that experience I can very well understand that this '07 still has room for improvement.
I don't drink wine because of religious reasons ... only for other reasons.
