WTN: Pillar Box White 2007

by Bruce Hayes » Fri Jul 30, 2010 10:40 am

Padthaway/Adelaide Hills, South Australia
Henry's Drive

A blend of Chardonnay (56 per cent), Sauvignon Blanc (30) and Verdelho.

Bright yellow in the glass.

Spicy, grapefruit on the nose.

Medium weight, tangy, toasty, spicy, lemon, peach, orange, viscous, mouthfilling, citrus peel, peppery, refreshing, creamy, rich, good acidity, lightly herbal.

Mouthwatering, tangy, peppery on the finish.

An unusual and enjoyable mash-up between toasty, oaked Chardonnay and tangy, citrusy Sauvignon Blanc. It is a strange blend, but it works.

Screwcap closure.

Purchased at $13.95 Canadian).

I have had the red a couple of times and been very happy with it as a good QPR wine. Have never seen the white but if so will give it a try. Thanks.

Bruce, I can see this matching a certain dish I want to make, to absolute perfection.

Many thanks for the note.
