WTN: 1997 Ridge Lytton Springs

This wine continues to evolve in a positive direction. The fruit is still very present, and it maintains balance with the acids and tannins in the wine. Things are starting to get soft around the edges so I certainly put this in its prime drinking window, but there is certainly no worry about it drying up any time soon. Drink or hold at your pleasure.

Held up very well overnight, so indeed no reason to worry about this wine drying up any time soon.

I've not had many bottles of Ridge Lytton Springs but every time I have it, I live the restraint in that wine. And given that his he can charge quite a bit more for this bottle and does not, makes me like it even more! I visited the Lytton Spring vineyard in Sonoma a couple of weeks ago and love it. Gnarly old (though not the oldest by far in the Sonoma and Napa area) vines have so much visual character. It's like looking at the face of an old man with a lifetime of stories.
