2007 Occhipinti Nero d’Avola Siccagno 13.0% L S0109
Disclaimer: I am a big fan of this wine, so my impressions may be biased. Marcia asked for something Italian to go with pizza leftovers. Loath as I was to sacrifice pearls before swine, this was handy and the flesh was weak. Perfume was heady, a magmatic amalgam of sour cherry dipped in leather and blood iron. At first sip, foodless, the acidity went straight for the jugular, enough to slice through any amount of molten cheese or soggy sliced tomatoes, but once subjected to company, it was racy and classy, ignoring the social divide. To avoid inordinate gushing, I might speculate that it is entering a slightly disjointed phase, where the nasal elements take a back seat to a mouth that is firing on all cylinders, breathing fire like a latter day Sodom & Camorra.
"I went on a rigorous diet that eliminated alcohol, fat and sugar. In two weeks, I lost 14 days." Tim Maia, Brazilian singer-songwriter.

I'll have to try that when I get a chance. I love the 07 Occhipinti Ill Frappato. Love the intense flavors but the wine dances lightly on it's feet.
