WTN: Crios De Susana Balbo Malbec 2008

by Bruce Hayes » Sun Jul 25, 2010 9:54 am

Mendoza

An 85-15 per cent Malbec and Bonarda blend.

Dark purple in the glass.

Chocolate, black fruit and spicy on the rich nose.

Thick in the mouth, spicy, tarry, chocolate, blackberry, black cherry, currants, cranberry, a firm edge and quite tart bordering on shrill.

A tangy finish.

Not as good, IMHO, as their Cabernet Sauvignon or the Syrah-Bonarda blend, both of which I have recently enjoyed.

Purchased at $13.95 (Canadian).

In my view, the best label of the Crios line of wines is the Torrontes.

Yup, the Torrontes is great! I also like the organic Cuma too.
