Cappellano drink up

Ready and open for business ('pie rupestris'), I don't think the 2001 of this is going to get any better.

I wonder if that cork was bad, leading to a touch of oxidation. That wine should be barely out of its infancy.

Oliver, that's what I was thinking too, but this was very light, little concentration (realizing Cappellano's wines are not big bruisers), and seemed to me to be fading. I have 3 more bottles to track it's trajectory, so I'll be reporting more furhter on down the road. Hoping it was simply a bad bottle.

If you really think it is fading/won't get any better, wouldn't you open another bottle near term? Just sayin'.

IIRC the vineyards are in Serralunga, too, which is the St. Estephe of Barolo villages.

I would bet the next bottle will be way better than this one. Don't be put off by pale color, too, as tradtional Barolo is misleadingly pale.
