We are in the process of moving to Florence for a few years so I have been pulling keepers from the cellar on a regular basis. The notes are perforce a little less precise...
Tablas Creek Pic Poul 2003
This is normally a blending grape in the Rhone and Southern France but in Paso Robles it matures completely and is suitable for a single varietal. Lovely golden color, quite honeyed and tropical fruit on the palate, decent balance and good length. A very good wine and a good choice for the ABC crowd. Dry and clean. Really very nice. Very Good +
Ridge Montebello 1977
A Dave Sit recommendation and a seriously terrific wine. Wonderful from nose to finish. Somewhere between a fine 1st Growth and California, mostly secondary and tertiary but still dark fruits. A good example of the heights that Cab Sauv can reach. Probably one of the very best Ridge Montebellos ever made. Not the most massive of wines and definitely more leather, dark fruit and spice than mint. Outstanding
Vincent Dancer Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Grande Borne 2000
Fortunately we opened this directly out of the cellar and it was a great example of the virtues of a cellar temperature red Burgundy: light and fresh cherry fruit with a nice core of tannins. As it warmed up, the tannins become a bit more prominent and it is not quite so delightful. Still a very nice effort and one that has a place in my cellar. essentially Excellent

Robert
