Mishy is in town and wants a brown bagger!!!

by Bob Parsons Alberta » Tue Sep 12, 2006 11:22 am

This upcoming Thursday, eleven of us are getting together at the Grill. From this forum, Ruth will be there plus Michael Berezowski and myself. Bob McD will not be able to attend, pity! Looks like we will be tasting a fair number of big reds, all blind. I am looking after food arrangements and whites, plus a couple of sparklers. I think most of the appetizers will be seafood based so am thinking Muscadet, Kim Crawford Sauv Blanc and a Scurati from Sicily. Should be a great evening and naturallty Michael and I will keep you all posted. There may be photos!!!!

Mightymishy from Vancouver!! Has visited (!!) various forums and now has winefanatic.com to take care of. She is a sommelier and has family in these parts, very good wine knowledge and a straight talker (agh hum).

We are having some seafood appetizers and for main course a choice of Roast Rack of Lamb, Pork New York, Bison Steak. Chef is working on some nice sauces, pity we do not know what is coming for wine as Mishy wants a brown bagger. Will work pretty good though I feel.
The waitress is top notch and knows what is going on!!! She will be running eh? Thought I would get some nice cheeses for afters, we have a terrific store in town Paddys, plus the `96 LBV from Noval.
Hopefully there will be a report here plus pics. Not sure what outfit Doris will be wearing however!

It was a terrific evening and you missed a real treat!! Over 20 wines, 11 participants and not a dud wine although the sparkling Sumac Ridge was slightly corked. The best food wine match ups were the `89 Musar with the lamb, the Esporoa with the scallops and crab crakes. My WOTN was the `97 Sangioveto from Badia a Coltibuono.
Lots of notes will be posted by Michael early next week and there are some pics as well!! 4 forumites attended so there will be some chit chat here.
