WTN: Simonsig Sunbird Sauvignon Blanc 2009

by Bruce Hayes » Sat Jul 17, 2010 12:33 pm

WO Stellenbosch

Light yellow, with green tints, in the glass.

Gooseberry and veggy notes on the nose.

Medium weight, fleshy, lemon, gooseberry, a hint of orange, peppery, bitter citrus rind, rather plump, good acidity, some vegginess, very clean and refreshing.

Mouthwatering on the finish, with lemon and bitter citrus rind.

An enjoyable wine at an equally enjoyable price.

Screwcap closure.

Purchased at $12.95 (Canadian).

That does sound worth trying, and the price is very noteworthy.

We have enjoyed previous vintages. It is a very reliable wine from year to year.

Great to know. I am going to pick some up. This sounds like the perfect sipper to pass around while the coals are heating up and the maple chunks begin smoking away.
