This really went through a wild ride during the course of the evening. It started very bright and citric and very salty, lemon, coriander, sea-salt. It opened up considerably and the citris faded into apples and pears and an egg-dough spätzle emerged with white pepper and a phenolic aspirin flavor that wasn´t bad under the fruit. I´ve found with a few Jamek wines that there is this cold, minty, subterranean reverb thing going on. This one too. There was good Wachau mouthfeel and heft (for a federspiel), but it had a fresh and tangy acidity throughout and it was very refreshing -I´m glad because I was debating upon whether or not to buy a Jamek Steinfeder for its July quenchability and because sometimes Jamek wines can go a bit too XL for my tastes. This one was very nice.
Cheers,
Bill
