I liked this sub $20 wine quite a bit. Very, very French without being bretty at all. There was some argument about sulfur notes. John Gilpin and myself were not sure, John Chandler thought he got that. But, overall, this was a very earthy, meaty, savory wine more than a fruity wine. Darker berry fruits were evident, but the minerality and earthyness dominated the palate. Interesting mouthfeel...not really smooth tannins yet. Pretty young? Plenty of acidity. I tasted a ferrous quality to the wine that is somewhat unique. Some toasty notes-I don't think it sees a lot of NEW oak, though some oak aging per the website here. http://www.vinlabarthe.com/rouge/4-cuve ... -aoc-.html
