13.5% alcohol, $23 from the local food co-op. A white Chinon.
Pale yellow color. Nice chenin nose with a little lanolin, some stone fruit, some orange blossom. In the mouth, there's a slight waxiness and an impression of ripeness from some prominent peach/apricot/melon flavor which is countered by very firm citrusy acidity. A medium bodied wine that maintains an even level of intensity from just hitting your tongue through the mid-palate and well into its finish. There's a lot of flavor in this and it more than held its own against a pasta in a wild mushroom cream sauce.
Overall, this is really good stuff. My wife, who usually won't have more than a taste of any white wine, had a couple of glasses. After a little internet research, I realized that this is a pretty rare wine - how it ended up at our food co-op is anyone's guess.
