WTN: '07 Finca El Portillo Cabernet Sauvignon

2007 Bodega El Portillo, Estate Bottled, Alto Valle de Uco, Finca El Portillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mendoza ($9.99 U.S. New Hampshire Liq Store).

Intense red hits the eye. Spicy jams on the nose and upfront. Blackberries, cassis, and a little mint, and Mendoza dirt cross the palate, with almost completely smooth tannin. It gave a very nice finish. We think this could be the very best value in an under $10 Cabernet, or for that matter, the best value Cab period.

We matched it with Kielbasa braised in it, spinach, and pasta salad. Good to last drop.
