WTN: 2004 Arcadian Pinot, Fiddlestix Vineyard

by Jenise » Wed Jul 07, 2010 4:09 pm

The 06 Arcadian Fiddlestix really turned my head a few months ago, and I've been very impressed with other vintages/vineyards by this producer, and so I was delighted to pick up these 04's at auction for just $25 each.

Not decanted in advance. Youthful red color. Restrained California sweetness true to Arcadian's trademark with very rich but not over the top red fruit, tons of spice as one would expect/hope for from this vineyard, and a generous quality mouthfeel. Drinks well right now but it's not yet at peak. I'll wait two years to open another but honestly think this wine has at least four to six more years to peak and could hold well beyond that. Excellent.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Joe Davis is truly an artisan winemaker and a wonderful person as well. Additionally produces excellent Chardonnay and Syrah as well. I feel that the Arcadian Grand Cru Society is one of the best wine club values available.

Don, I've had one chard and maybe seven of his pinots across a range of vintages and vineyards so far, and those have been anywhere from 'just' very impressive to sweep-you-off-your-feet outstanding. I'm beginning to think Joe can do no wrong. I'm not in his club (nor in any club at presesnt) but I have to admit that his would one of the first I'd consider joining if I were to get back on that kind of track. How else to get more of these wines, which clearly I must have?

Hi Jenise,
The Arcadian Winery web site http://www.arcadianwinery.com/ provides info on ordering their available wines and also describes the Grand Cru Society. I joined it because Joe's wines are nearly impossible to get in my area (PA/NJ) and like you, I love these wines.
