WTN: Roederer Estate Brut Sparkling NV

by Bruce Hayes » Sun Jul 04, 2010 9:16 am

Anderson Valley

A 60-40 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Frothy mousse. Lots of streams of bubbles.

Light gold in the glass.

Nutty, marzipan on the nose.

Crisp, green apple, lemon, nutty, marzipan, good acidity, clean, mouthwatering, medium weight, mature notes, toasty.

Clean and mouthwatering on the finish, with tart apple and lemon.

Went very nicely with salmon on the barbecue.

Purchased at $27.95 (Canadian).

Roederer Estate is my favorite new world sparkler, and is always good value. Your price is a bit steep, but not shocking given the provincial monopoly.

The Costco here (Reno, NV) stocks it frequently. It is around $18. It is indeed a good value.

Yes, it is our favorite CA sparkler and is priced $19 here in the hinterlands.

Wasn't it the Gippers favorite wine, or was it their Extra Dry?

Hi Bruce,

I bought two bottles of the Roederer Estate Sparkler and they are both gone. I really like it and it goes well with spicy Mexican food :) . I also compared it to a champane NV Veuve Cliquot at a party and it was just as good if not a slight bit better to my palate.

Just drank a bottle left over from my daughter's wedding in '02, and it is delicious, and fresh as a daisy!
I don't know just how I'm supposed to play this scene, but I ain't afraid to learn...
