WTN: Prieure Lichine and Clerc Milon

Another Sunday afternoon waiting at the mall for the wife and kids so another opportunity to drop by Wine Story and try a few things in the machine.

Chateau Prieure Lichine 2004 - This was recommended as it was a favorite of the staff. Sweet and a little spicy on the nose. The impression is also carried on the palate. Sour cherry, quite forward. The finish is firm but the wine is already approachable. Not a complex wine but certainly very friendly. Good.

Chateau Clerc Milon 2000 - Closed on the nose. Deep, intense flavor. Berry confit. Old leather. Very firm tannins. Tremendous finish. This wine needs a couple of years to develop the aromas, tame the tannins, and release more flavors on the palate. Best to leave alone for 5 years or so but it will be excellent when it comes around.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.

Thanks for the update Jay. I keep resisting opening many of the 2000s. I peek at the lower end once in a while, and while they are very good there's so much more to come.
