Had this last night w/ Susan:
1. LesFils de Charles Trosset Arbin Momdeuse Vin de Savoie l'Expression d'un terroir (12.5%) 2008: Dark color; some cracked black pepper/earthy/plummy/licorice/pomengranate slight metallic/pungent/burning steel very interesting/peppery nose; rather hard/tannic rough/rustic slight peppery plummy/licorice/pungent slight floral/lilacs flavor; long rather rough/rustic/tannic/earthy strong plummy/licorice/pomengranate finish; needs some age; very interesting/complex/peppery nose but pretty rough/rustic on the palate. $23.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. I try every Mondeuse that I can get my hands on and most all Savoie wines I come across. Mondeuse tends to make a rather rough/rustic/tannic wine and this was no exception. The cracked black pepper nose, though, is something I seldom encounter in Mondeuse. This had more fruit than the Savoie Mondeuse tend to have. Probably about the 2'nd best Mondeuse in the world.

Ohhh... of course, the world's greatest Mondeuse is...MikeOfficer's. Soon the be joined by SteveLagier/CaroleMeredith's Mondeuse.
