WTN: 2005 Donnhoff Norheimer Kirschheck Riesling Spatlese

by Diane (Long Island) » Thu Jul 01, 2010 7:55 pm

On Monday, I brought this bottle to a lunch at the excellent Thai restaurant, Sripraphai. The wine showed a touch of petrol when first opened, but with time, it blew off leaving a lovely nose of minerals. On the palate I found pineapple and pears, very soft and with nice length. Three days later, with a glass and a half remaining, it is becoming a willowy, softer wine with the fruity notes more subdued, still showing good acidity, and no signs of oxidation. It was beautiful with tonight's dinner of grilled salmon with a Persian lime olive oil vinaigrette that I prepared, and served over a salad of local mesclan greens.

Diane,

Thanks for TOFTT. I have a few of these in my offsite. As good as it sounds now, looks like I'm better off waiting for a while.

Btw, Sripraphai is truly an excellent Thai restaurant and, imho, the best in the NY area.

Cheers.

Sounds great. Kirschheck is not normally given the praise that is bestowed on Brucke or Hermannshohle, but I love it. It ages really well too!

I'm guessing he meant Taking One For The Team.

Although I must admit I've never seen TOFTT before.

TQ Rahsaan and apologies to Diane. I do quite a bit of posting on the road (commuting to-from work) with iPhone and tend to make up abbrevations and acronyms.
