Whilst at TraderJoe's in Pasadena, I spied the Emergence Red:
1. Emergence CentralCoast Red (48% Syrah/29% Mourvedre/23% Grenache; 15%) 2009: Med.color; fairly grapey/fruity/blackberry/Syrah simple nose; soft simple fruity/blackberry/Syrah bit tart slight Paso/jammy flavor; med.short fruity/blackberry/Syrah finish w/ slight tannins; a simple/utterly boring red that speaks quietly of Syrah but has little in the way of redeeming features; not a good value at $7.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. I had the Emergence White '09 a few weeks ago and was mightly impressed with the aromas & flavors it delivered for $7.00. I was hoping this would be in the same ball park. Alas, it was not. At $14, the Qupe CentralCoast Syrah '08 is a far better QPR red. This Emergence was not bad Syrah, but it was just utterly boring w/ little to recommend it, even at $7.00. A TraderJoe's exclusive...which they can keep it all as far as I'm concerned.
