WTN: Two 2006 French Syrahs

2006 Domaine Chante Perdrix Saint Joseph. Quite funky at first. Very bright. Some hipster cranberry notes to accompany the funk, which did blow off. White pepper. Good acidity. Became richer with more air. 86 points.

2006 Domaine de Lises Crozes Hermitage Produced by Maxime Graillot, the son of Allain G. This was a beautiful wine to me. Earth, white pepper, savory notes, plenty of red and black plum. Donna and Joe commented on a lifted note...almost like some Viognier was added? Definitely richer and darker in fruit than the Saint Joseph above. Delicious French Syrah. 92 points?
