2006 Ridge Vineyards Zinfandel Paso Robles
I used to drink a lot of zinfandel in my early wine-drinking days but hardly touch the stuff any more. The exceptions are those from Ridge, with Geyserville and Lytton Springs being long time favourites. This offering from the Dusi Ranch in Paso Robles is 100% zinfandel. Nice nose of cherries, blackberries and spice; similar on the palate with very good length. Well balanced, as is typical of Ridge. If only the price paid was typical too! ($7 at a supermarket markdown sale.) Very satisfying with pasta topped with a spicy tomato-based sauce made with fresh vegetables.

Great price. We opened a 2000 Ridge Jimsomare Zin last night, and it was just lovely. Still youthful and fresh. It's hard to beat a Ridge with a little age on it. I realize that most of the Ridge ATP wines I received are much better now than the first bottle I had when it was young.
Cheers, Jim

They only had 1 bottle each of the 2006 and 2007 vintages but I'm glad I got them :D I'll wait on the 2007 for a little while.

Agreed and nice to hear about the Jimsomare Zin. I have a few 2001 and 2002 Ridges lying around that I should get to.
