Leitz...my first experience!

WTN: `07 Weingut Josef Leitz Rheingau Riesling Kabinett.

9.5% alc, $17 Cdn from Costco, SC, think produced for N American market only?
I have heard so much about Leitz I just had to grab a bottle last Xmas when down in Medicine Hat.

The color is a medium straw. On the nose, peach, lemon, ripe pear, great aromatics here.
Initial entry thought was too sweet as I prefer a drier style. However still lots of appeal here with slight effervescence and plenty of ripe fruits. Lycees and passion fruit come to mind, good acidity, clean and fresh. Lengthy finish, served well chilled so not cloying.

Glad you finally got to try a Leitz Bob. Great guy, and he makes some wonderful wines. I've found the wines very consistent across all ripeness and sugar levels, so if dry's your preference, worth looking out for one of his trockens (either his basic Eins Zwei Dry bottling, or the higher end Alte Reben wines).
