You too could vote for this idiotic list!

Apparently Luxist is intended as a website of the best of the best of luxury items. They've nominated some wines and this page has voting:

http://www.luxist.com/awards-vote/wine-awards/

Holy Sh%^!

Best International White
Really? Lynch Bages Blanc? Seriously? 3 dry Bordeaux (only one from Graves!), 1 sweet Bordeaux, 1 Rhone. 2 Medoc whites before a single white Burg or Riesling? Unbelievable. Lynch Bages blanc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best International Red? Only Bordeaux need apply, Alex would like this one.

Best Domestic White – I’m not really in mainstream on this one, and am not familiar with what is considered tops, but other than Kistler I’m surprised. I love Ridge, but the MB Chard isn’t exactly a talked about wine

Best Domestic Red- now here I would have expected Ridge MB. Or maybe based on popularity things like SQN or Harlan. But Clos du Val, Duckhorn, St Francis. St Francis!!!!!

Best sparkling. Confusing nominees, DP and Cristal, but do they mean Krug MV or vintage? What Pommery?????? VC la Grande Dame?

No one who knew much about wine made these lists! Sounds like someone grabbed wine list from an expensive restaurant and picked a few names off of it.

Here are the candidate description for The Best International Red Wine ... and definitely favoring Pichon Lalande (or is it Baron?):

"The first nominee has roots that trace back to 1299 while the second continues to produce the world's most revered and highly sought-after wines. The third nominee is a member of the elite "First Growths", while the fourth has long made wine for the world's most well-heeled oenophiles. The final nominee is celebrated for its strong, tannin-packed wines."

Brian,
I too have enjoyed Clos du Val. Yet I find it a curious candidate for Best Domestic Red Wine.

As Ramon points out, looks of these descriptions don't actually point to one wine. CdV makes lots of reds, as do some of the others. And Longueville is in both Pichon's name, though I think it's more commonly used to describe Pichon Baron (if people don't say Pichon Lalande, they say Pichon-Comtesse).

But it's clearly about the names. Label-centric more than anything, real quality doesn't count. Which of course doesn't explain how they could nominate Ridge MB white but not the red, but still. Perhaps what one should expect, but sad.

You could put the winners of each category in your million dollar wine cabinet:

Love the Chateau on top. Maybe there is $999,500 stuffed in there.

I was just thinking that things like Kistler and Far Niente Chards, and Duckhorn Merlot are mainstays at expensive steakhouses and other restaurants that aim for a somewhat prestigious but totally unadventurous lists.

Maybe you stain it like the stuff I buy at Ikea!
Hope they put the damn cabinett inside a temp controlled cellar.
Thanks David for the link!
