2004 Jayer-Gilles NSG Les Hauts Poirets 13.5%
Serious red berry pinot aromas with oodles of forest floor. Lovely texture, lively acidity, adult smoky fruit, no oak flavors. Decidedly delicious. Jayer-Gilles doesn't get much street cred but this lieu deserves to be dit.

I'd like to come across more Jayer-Gilles wines. Really enjoyed a Cote de Nuits Villages several years ago.

That's actually shocking. I've never had a J-G wine where the oak wasn't pronounced (even an Aligote seemed oaky!), glad this showed well (and no greenie meanies either I gather). Not sure about street cred, but prices aren't exactly cheap.

Alas, otherwise I'd get much more.
