Can you give us your opinions on Champagne?

by Dale Reardon » Mon Jun 21, 2010 8:10 pm

Hi,

First post here and keen to get involved with this site.

We love our wine and have come up with a new idea that we are keen to progress.
So if you love bubbly - read on! Rest assured we are only trying to collect opinions and data from a survey. Absolutely nothing is for sale and we have obtained permission from the forum management before posting.

We are planning to bring to you French Champagne from boutique winemakers - many not previously available in Australia.

After a visit to Champagne, France, we discovered the incredible range of champagnes created by many boutique wineries and realised that we wanted to have these readily available to enjoy at home. Champagne Lovers is not yet in place, but we are working hard to bring this exciting idea to life.

We would be very grateful if you could take a few minutes to answer these survey questions and help us with our business planning. You are also most welcome offer other suggestions - after all we want to bring you what you want and make it successful for everyone.

Thanks very much for your time and thoughts.

Also if you leave your contact email address you will go into a draw for a prize of a bottle of French champagne but there is no obligation to leave contact details.

Please follow this link and complete the survey.

Thanks very much!!! We shall let you know how we get on with making this happen.

Also note any dollar figures in the survey refer to Australian dollars.

Unfortunately not a ton of Aussies here, but good luck. Champagne is one of my very favorite regions.

My own opinions:

(1) Krug rules.

(2) see (1).

(3) Dom Perignon is vastly overrated.

(4) Roederer Cristal double so.

(5) I wouldn't wash my dog in Veuve Cliquot Yellow Label.

(6) Veuve Cliquot's other offerings, especially the Grande Dame Rose, are very good.

(7) I like all of Pol Roger's range.

(8) There are lots of top-notch small producers whose wines I haven't tasted.

(9) Most Champagne is priced beyond my price threshold of pain.

Dale

I answered your questionnaire but since I am not in OZ I doubt my answer will assist you at all.

If you really want answers from non Ozzers you might edit your post and give an equivalent value in other currencies for the AUS$ -- I couldn't be arsed to look it up for the GBP s just guessed where you asked for prices.

Dale, g'day.

I am one of the Australians who hang out here. Did your survey, hope it helps. I don't buy a lot of French champagne but keep hoping that either I will win the lottery, or else wake up one day to find that the price of French champagne has gone down.

cheers,
Matilda

I answered. I live in the US. Don't know if it will help. Good Luck.

Hi again. I just want to thank everyone who has filled out the survey and given us feedback. The survey and a chance to win the bottle of champagne is open until midnight this coming Friday night (Australian Eastern standard time) . So you have less than a week to enter the prize draw.

We will draw the prize in a weeks time and look forward to analysing replies.

We really do appreciate the time taken by those who have replied so thanks very much.

Thanks,
Dale.
