2003 Napa Redwoods Estate Cabernet Franc

by Brian K Miller » Wed Jun 16, 2010 11:17 am

"Castle Rock Vineyard" well uphill on Redwood Road above Hess Collection's facilities. 1200 feet elevation.

Dark color with nice ruby rim. Dark, roasted fruit, brooding nose with a bit of alcoholic bite (14.5% abv per label). Palate shows nice dark blackberry, currant fruit with herbaceousness showing up increasingly as the evening progressed. The wine also became increasingly silky over the evening. Decent American Cab Franc...better than many. 86 points
