A day of relatively cool weather meant a nice half bottle of Bordeaux this evening. I need more of those (both the halves of Bordeaux, and cooler days).
The first .375 of the 2001 Domaine de Chevalier (Graves) I opened a while back was corked. Fortunately, this isn't. Elegant cassis and red fruit framed by tobacco, smoky and gravelly notes with touches of leather and warm earth developing with air. This is polished and elegant in the mouth with gentle tannins on the back end, moderate acidity that isn't particularly prominent but is enough to give it a nice sense of freshness, only faint quibble is that this finishes a little short but at $23/half I'm glad I bought (and have more).
