Domaine Piron Lamelois "Quartz" Chenas Crus Beaujolais 2006.

I guess this is what they mean by "masculine" Beaujolais? Pretty closed down tight the first night, with tannins, earthyness, some savory elements. Maybe even a little hot????? Not a lot of fruit. The second night, the red plum and cherry fruit had come out more, but this is still a very earthy, dark, savory wine. Smoother tannins, very minerally???? I think I actually like this style...it reminds me of some Morgon wines.

Hope & Grace (Charles Hendricks Wines) Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2004.

Mostly from St Helena's "Lewelling" Vineyard. 14.2% abv. Definitely needs more time for the oak to integrate here. However, the fruit is just so juicy and pure and delicious. Definitely on the higher acid side of Napa Cabernet (especialy for 2004). Very, very bright wine. A lot of freshness. Cherry seems to dominate, with some licroice notes and plum and currant. Already a savory, leathery floor. Probably too young, but very nice nonetheless. I think i will wait for awhile for the 2004 and 2006 vintages.
