Do you think it's significant that several properties are promoted but none demoted? Politics, or just good wine making?

Robin, those 11 chateaux at bottom were demoted (removed from Grand Cru Classe, can only be listed as St Emilion Grand Cru).

None of the PGCC were demoted (there were rumors re Beausejour-Duffau , but they survived).

Compared to the incumbent, he's a statesman.

Actually, it's arguable that Nixon was our last liberal president. He supported wage and price controls, opened China, instituted food stamps and actually would have pushed for a guaranteed minimum income for all Americans if that little Watergate thing hadn't come up.

If he was president today, the Limbaughs and O'Reillys and Coulter's would be screaming for his scalp and calling him a communist.

This is like shooting fish in a barrel. It's hardly even fun.

I think you might be overstating the case a little, but Nixon was an interesting dichotomy. It will be interesting to see if his brand of Republicanism makes a comeback after the fall elections.

Oops, I said we'd go back to wine. How 'bout that new classification? Can I get any deals from St. Emilion or are those days gone forever?
