Misc. TN's over past few weeks

by Jim Grow » Sun Jun 06, 2010 10:31 pm

2005 Conn Valley Vineyard Chardonnay. A very nice Chard. on deep discount that I hoped would be identical to a Newton Unfilerted Chard but that was not to be. This wine may approach that wonderful wine someday but as of now it is light straw color with great acidity and moderate tropical fruit. Glad I bought 3 more and may get some more still as this wine has lots of future with it's great body and acid balance.

2005 Conn Valley Cabernet Limited Release also on deep discount in Ft. Wayne for $17.50 is an excellent medium-bodied Cabernet that can age much further. Didn't rock my world but great QPR.

2007 Newton Cabernet just their entry level but very nice with spicey Cabernet fruit. Same price as above and will probably reserve more of both for when I next get up to Ft. Wayne.

2003 Artesa Tempranillo. For less than $9.00 on deep discount I was stunned by the quality. Complex herbal notes mixed with red and a bit of black fruits, this is a wine to contemplate but I got the last 2 bottles.

Artesa makes a good QPR Cabernet Sauvignon as well.

It is somewhat cooler in North Carolina today also. Still supposed to get to mid-80's F. but not in the 90's like yesterday and less humidity.

It has been cooler the last few days but that does not alter my drinling habits. The 2005 Cabernet was Conn Creek, not Conn Valley. Jane, I have tried and presently have some Artesa Cab. and it is a good quality Cab. for the price. Their Tempranillo was a real eye-opener though.
