- 2004 Corte Giara Recioto della Valpolicella - Italy, Veneto, Valpolicella, Recioto della Valpolicella (9/7/2006)
Black. The nose is rather oaky, berryish and sweet, but with a savoury liquorishness to it. The palate is very sweet and luscious, with noticable tannins and oak, but balanced by fairly high acidity. There is a touch of youthful effervescence, but nothing destracting. Quite nice, though I was surprised to see such oakiness to it.

Does such overt oakiness really belong to young Recioto, or is this some modern, spoofulated variant? As many will know, I don't really get along with Veneto, but I do try to like them as my gf loves (sorry, luuuuurves) them. This had some of those savoury elements going on which I like, but are there any Venetos (apart from Rabosos which I never see anywhere) which would have true savoury elements balancing the sweetness?
