After going to a party in New London, NH, Liz and I will be driving up to Montreal for a few days. Does anyone have a wine-related recommendations like favorite restaurants, activities or anything? Thanks in advance.

Psarotaverna Du Symposium, 5334-A Park corner Fairmont, Montreal, Québec, H2V 2G7. This is a Greek Seafood Restaurant and our favorite place in Montreal. They bring platters of freshly caught fist to your table for you to pick out. Just point to one you want and don't bother to tell them how to cook it. They would be insulted. While it is cooking you dine on a variety of starters, washing them down with red Greek wine; again don't ask. Their fried eggplant with go great with your fish.

Cheers, Carl

Unlike Boston, Montreal has lots of BYOB places with good food. I have liked Le P'tit Plateau and Yoyo a lot as BYOB restaurants. Both chef-owned I believe, fairly small, very good food, neither expensive. The latter has pretty good stemware. Both are an easy cab ride from the main part of downtown, on the Plateau.
I found out to my dismay on my last trip though that they collect duty (something like half the value --though they don't know what it is) to be paid on wine brought to Canada over the duty-free limit, so don't bring more than you need.
Have a great trip
Charles
